With all of the drones emerging on the market, it’s hard to keep up with them all. One that is really standing out from the crowd (it was announced at CES in Vegas 2017), is the Polaroid PL2500 Camera Drone. If you missed the CE3 this year, then you missed this announcement, but that’s okay, because I’m here to tell you everything I have already learned about it …
The Polaroid PL2500 Camera drone has been classified as a quadcopter. It ses a combination of a separate remote control and a mobile device in order to control its flight. Yes, in order to take advantage of the advanced combination, you will be required to download the mobile app, but that shouldn’t be a problem as long as you have a device that is capable of it.
The Polaroid PL2500 is intended to be used for film and photography, but it can also be used as a recreation/hobby. In the end, whatever you want to use it for is fully up to you.
Max Flight Time
With this quadcopter, you’ll have a total of 15 minutes of flight time. I know, this doesn’t seem like a whole lot of time, but believe it or not, it’s above average. The average flight time of these devices are around 8 minutes. Mind you, the 15 minute flight time given is the amount of time the PL2500 will fly without adding any additional weight to it. So, if you plan on adding additional weight, remember the flight time will decrease.
The camera resolution comes in at 720p. This means it is capable of shooting in HD, but unfortunately, it is the lowest quality HD available. However, it is still good, because many people can’t even tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. If video quality isn’t at the top of this list, then you should be more than happy with the quality of video.
Mobile App Features
The PL2500 combines the features of a remote control with the visual appeal of a smartphone/tablet. It is best to use the two in combination, which will require you to download the app onto your device. Of course, it’s not necessary that you use these two together in order to fly the PL2500, but it does make the experience even better.
Once the app is installed, you will be able to operate the drone up to 492 feet away, which is an astonishing distance if you think about it. With the average controller, you can control the PL2500 from 164 feet away.
If you’re looking for a good drone to use in order to take pictures and video, then the Polaroid PL2500 would be a viable option.
